MIDLOTHIAN- Midlothian Councilman Jason Kyle, 37, was arrested and released on bond Wednesday, July, 28.

Kyle, released on a bond of just $10,000 and charged with Indecency with a child- sexual contact, won the council seat in May, beating incumbent Ken Chambers.

Cindy Ermatinger, Kyle’s representing attorney has stated, " the victim recanted her statement."

Kyle, also an attorney, is credited with his wife Nicole, for establishing the Downtown Farmer’s Market, the Downtown Business Association and a downtown historic preservation campaign now in progress.

"The city of Midlothian has full confidence in the ability of the court system to address these charges in a fair and timely manner," stated Mayor Boyce Whatley in a news release from the city.

"We appreciate the fact that our system of justice means that innocence is presumed, unless guilt is proven.

We also respect the need to suspend judgment regarding these allegations until the disposition of this case is final."

The case is currently awaiting to be set in 40th District Judge Gene Knize’s court and any questions regarding the case are being referred to the Ellis County District Attorney’s office.

"In the end, we’ll have clarity on this allegation," stated Whatley.

"What we need now are open eyes, open minds and patience."
