Motorists should expect delays

IRVING – The southbound Loop 12 exit to eastbound State Highway 114 (John Carpenter Freeway) will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 through noon Saturday, July 24, 2010. This operation is necessary for construction of the new southbound Loop 12 bridge over SH 114. Motorists will be routed to Grauwyler Road, south of SH 183.

The closure above will occur again beginning 6 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010 through noon the same day. The exit from eastbound SH 114 to Tom Braniff Drive and northbound Loop 12 will also be closed from 6 a.m. through noon Sunday. The westbound SH 114 frontage road will also be closed on the east side of Loop 12 and traffic will be detoured onto northbound Loop 12. These closures are necessary for the placement of the final concrete beam for the new southbound Loop 12 bridge over SH 114.

On Saturday, July 24, 2010, the exit from eastbound SH 114 to Tom Braniff and the exit to northbound Loop 12 will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. through noon on Monday, July 26, 2010. Motorists will be directed via changeable message signs to use the Cistercian Drive exit. These closures are necessary to shift eastbound SH 114 frontage road traffic onto the new frontage road pavement from west of Cistercian Drive to Loop 12.

These closures are necessary to accommodate the $224 million project to rebuild the Loop 12/SH 114 interchange around the former Texas Stadium site.

Motorists are encouraged to obey all warning signs within the construction work zone to ensure their safe passage and safety of the construction workers. Portable message signs have been placed to alert the public to this operation and local police will be on site during the traffic reconfiguration to further alert motorists during the operations.
