RED OAK – Interested in becoming a volunteer for the Red Oak Police Department?

The Citizen’s Police Academy is an eleven-week program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Red Oak Police Department.

Each session consists of twelve consecutive Thursday night classes in September, at city of Red Oak facilities.

Classes consist of Cadet Training, Bomb Squad, Robbery, Homicide, Use of Force, Internal Affairs, Vehicular Homicide, S.W.A.T., Forensics, Recruiting and meeting the Chief. Instruction consists of lectures, demonstrations, tours, and riding with a police officer on a 10-hour shift.

"We hope the graduates of the Citizen’s Police Academy become more aware and better informed about how the police department operates and will encourage friends, co-workers and families to join the Red Oak Police Department in this rewarding program," said Officer Nathan Bickerstaff.

Once graduated, all students will become volunteers for the ROPD.

Applications are now being accepted and you can contact Bickerstaff at 972-617-7632.
