FERRIS - Police Chief Frank Mooney officia-lly stepped down Monday, June 27.

"I had some health concerns and I will not be out of work completely," said Mooney.

"I will be moving down to Kerr-ville and doing some things down there."

Investigator Sam Love, Fer-ris’ Employee of the Month, will be interim chief until further notice.

"I really enjoyed my time and stay here," said Mooney.

Mayor Rick Barrett presented Mooney with his badge and a proclamation for "Frank Mooney Day" Wednesday, June 30 where a small reception will be open to the public at city hall from 3 – 5 p.m.

"I don’t want to rehash what happened on that morning [September 8, 2208] but I give thanks to two life saving brothers and they are the reason I am still here."
