ITALY– A Dallas man fleeing to Mexico was caught by multiple Ellis County Sheriff Office agents after kidnapping a young girl Saturday, June 5.

Jose Luis Serrato, 54, was traveling South Bound on Interstate Highway 35 driving what was said to be a Gray 99 Suburban when the ECSO received a call from the Dallas Police Department in reference to a kidnapping suspect headed to Mexico.

According to sher-iff’s reports, the suspect was being tracked on his cell phone by AT&T with the first signal picked up in the Sterrett area.

Deputy Cody Cole ran a plate on an SUV going through Italy with registration coming back on a Ford Expedition belonging to Serrato.

Maria Guadalupe, the reported victim and seven other females, mostly children, were uncovered in the vehicle.

Serrato is currently being held for Dallas County on kidnapping/ family violence charges with a bond set at $50,000.
