Northbound Lanes of Interstate 45 Bridges To Be Closed Downtown

DALLAS – Northbound lanes of I-45 (Spur 345) at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will be closed nightly beginning 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 13 through 5 a.m. the following morning for seven days.

This area of I-45 consists of the bridges over I-30. These closures are necessary to facilitate welding repair of the steel substructure of the bridge. Northbound traffic will be detoured off of I-45 at Pennsylvania Avenue and go right (eastbound) on Pennsylvania, then left on Kimble. Kimble merges onto U.S. 175 (South Central Expressway) which then merges back into I-45. Detour signs and message boards are in place.

Weather permitting, these lane closures will continue nightly this week through Friday, April 16. The same lane closure operation will continue beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday April 18 through Wednesday, April 21. The lane closure will not be in effect Saturday, April 17.

These lane closures have been scheduled for the times of lowest traffic volumes on this roadway. TxDOT strives to accomplish needed infrastructure improvements as quickly as possible while considering the safety and convenience of the traveling public as of utmost importance.
