ENNIS – Known statewide for their breathtaking trails of Bluebonnets, the city of Ennis will be showcasing a full weekend of events during its annual "Ennis Bluebonnet Trails" April 17-18.
Hosted by the Ennis Garden Club, the event will include art and craft exhibitions showcasing original art work, a children’s activity area, food and drinks, bluebonnet souvenirs and live entertainment throughout the day.
"Ennis Bluebonnet Trails is one of the most beautiful destinations to include in your travel plans for the month of April, "stated Sandy Anderson, chairman of the Bluebonnet Trails Festival.
Located south of the Dallas /Ft.Worth metroplex down Interstate Highway 45, Anderson stated "we have the very best trails for viewing wildflowers in the state."
Individuals can drive 40 miles of mapped bluebonnet trials along winding country roads at no charge.
Maps may be picked up at the Ennis Convention and Business Bureau all month long and during festival weekend the maps will only be available at Pierce Park in the Ennis Garden Club souvenir tent.
Hours of the festival are 9 a.m. -6 p.m. April 17-19.
The Ennis Garden Club oversees the protection and preservation of the Bluebonnet Trails and works diligently to educate the public about mowing and seed planting schedules that maintain the beauty of Texas’ state flower.
