WAXAHACHIE – After being on the chopping block for close to a year, the motion was made to close Carlisle Chevrolet in Waxahachie, located off Hwy 287.
Since General Motors filed for bankruptcy on June 1 of last year, it was expected that many cuts would be made, as well as entire plants being closed.
However, when this truth became a reality to Carlisle Chevrolet, they decided to fight back.
The case was brought all the way to congress by owner Frank Blanken-beckler, in order to save this historic dealership that has existed since the 1920s.
Blankenbeckler said, "It’s more than just a balance sheet and income statement, the people that work here are literally family to me."
Carlisle Chevrolet offers much more than car sales, since just as much of their revenue comes from their parts store and body shop.
The dealership has been around for 84 years and plans to stay open another 84 years to come, according to local news coverage.
