CEDAR HILL – Northwood University is casting five men and four women in its production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" at its auditions, held at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 and 2 in the Patterson Memorial Chapel on the campus at 1114 W. FM 1382.

No experience is necessary.

Performance dates are April 22 to 24 and April 29 to May 1.

The musical stars six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by adults barely managed to escape childhood themselves, who learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.

It’s a hilarious tale of overachievers’ angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.

Come to auditions prepared to read from the script and perform one verse and chorus from a song of your choosing. CD player and piano accompanist will be provided.
