WILMER – As of 4:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan.7 Councilwoman Tiny Lange officially announced her resignation with a phone call placed to the media.

"I am taking a job out of Waco and me being there isn’t doing any good anyway," said Lange.

"I was traveling a lot and I wasn’t going to be able to be there and besides, I need to make a living."

When calls were made to the city of Wilmer, Mayor Jeff Steele claimed Lange never made any calls to the city secretary confirming this.

"She called the water clerk, but I don’t have anything official, nothing in writing whatsoever," said Steele.

Lange alleged the mayor had everyone is his pocket.

"With him [Steele] having everyone in his pocket now, I just don’t think I can be of much help any longer," said Lange.

According to Steele, Lange has missed three council meetings in a row now which means there is grounds for discussion on her position.

"She’s missed three council meetings so that could be taken up on her in office for sure,"said Steele.

Lange lost her campaign for mayor against Jeff Steele last May and was up for re-election for her council seat this year.
