District students earn recognition in local and state art contests
DESOTO — The DeSoto Independent School District recently held the annual Holiday Card Art Contest among district students. Over 150 entries were submitted for the contest.
The top nine finalists and grand prize winner were selected by the Instructional Support Center staff before the Thanksgiving break.

As the Grand Prize Winner, Morgan received a framed version of her artwork and a $50 Gift Certificate courtesy of Asel Art Supply.

The law firm of Walsh, Anderson, Brown, Aldridge & Gallegos held their 12th Annual Holiday Card Contest this fall and DeSoto ISD was one of five school districts selected to submit entries from the district clients served by the firm.
Woodridge Elementary was the selected DeSoto ISD fourth grade to participate in the contest, which is ultimately judged by the firm’s staff and shareholders.
Congratulations to Woodridge Elementary fourth grader Christian Rodriguez whose entry was selected as one of five finalist and eventually earned runner-up in the contest!
In recognition of this award, Christian receives a check for $50.00 and Woodridge Elementary receives a $150 check for the school’s art department. The district received a Certificate of Appreciation for participation in the contest that was also given to Woodridge Elementary.
