Firefighters assoc. holds toy drive

DESOTO – All three fire stations in the city will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 6 – 11 years for the Firefighters Association Holiday Toy Drive.
Toys can be dropped off at any of the fire stations as well as the main lobby of city hall located in the DeSoto Town Center until Dec. 16.
The goal is to provide toys for more than 60 needy kids in DeSoto Elementary schools who have been identified by the district’s school counselors.
Desoto Fire Department will be participating in the HomeTown Holiday Parade of Lights Saturday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. not only to transport Santa to the tree lighting on a fire engine, but the Firefighters Association will be out in full force during the parade collecting toys.
Their goal, according to a press release, is to fill the bed of their utility truck with toys throughout the evening of Dec. 5.
