HUTCHINS – Waxahachie Councilman Chuck Beatty was arrested for driving while intoxicated Saturday, Nov.21.
Beatty,63, was traveling south bound on Interstate Highway 45 on the service road between Dowdy Ferry and Harris was charged with DWI and open alcohol container around 4:40 p.m. at City Auto Sales.
Hutchins Police reported Beatty was driving a 2003 Gold Chevy Cavalier with a unknown piece of drug/narcotic equipment in the vehicle described as an aqua colored "pipe."
Beatty has yet to comment to the media.
"Since it’s a personal issue, the city can’t comment," said Amy Hollywood, public relations director for the city of Waxahachie.
Hutchins Police Chief Frank McElligott said the incident is still currently under investigation.
"He never went to Hutchins jail, just straight to Dallas County," said McElligott.
The town of Hutchins had a councilmember arrested earlier this year. Rhennett Gardner, 51, was arrested on a DWI charge on March 17.
