GARRETT - According to Julie Featherston, city secretary, the city will hold an election this November to increase their sales tax by .25 percent, which the city says will go to a separate streets use account.
"This will not affect the residents, unless they buy something in Garrett...It won’t be a lot of money now, but as business’ start coming in then the income will go up," said Fea-therston.
The city’s current tax rate is $0.32 ,making it the second lowest taxed city in the county after Pecan Hill, currently set at $0.30 per $100.
