DUNCANVILLE – A Best Southwest resident is the first West Nile Virus death for the 2009 season.

Dallas County health officials confirmed the county’s first death from West Nile virus Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The victim lived in Duncan-ville, in the 75116 zip code area.

For medical confidentiality and personal privacy reasons, DCHHS does not provide additional identifying information.

"While this death is unfortunate, it should serve as a reminder to our community that the West Nile Virus is being carried by mosquitoes in this area," said Zachary Thompson, DCHHS Director.

"It is important that residents do their part by taking the necessary precautions to avoid exposure to the virus."
