New Book Guides Readers through Vocation and Purpose

MIDLOTHIAN, TX – Before age thirty, Midlothian author Wendy A.W. Berthelsen had already co-authored and even presented pioneering research at an international symposium in Europe. As a research engineer at the largest biomedical technology company in the world, people were impressed with her bright future in the cardiac pacing industry. Like many, though much of her job was first-rate, she often found herself bored.

In her new book releasing nationwide this month, Custom Designed, Berthelsen offers valuable insights on Christian vocation, who readers are called to be, and how they can handle life’s transitions. Though she believes God called her to the seemingly perfect career for a time, she herself was led into transition and has now been helping others do the same for over 20 years.

Dr. Walter Sundberg, professor of Church History, Luther Seminary, says, “Not since Clarence Stoughton’s Whatever you Do from over a generation ago, have I seen a more helpful, down-to-earth guide on Christian vocation. Custom Designed is concrete, helpful, and biblically based. There is no more important question than the one the book asks: ‘How do we live worthy of Christ in our daily lives?’”

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available at any bookstore nationwide or can be ordered through the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore or by visiting barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com or target.com. This is also an eLIVE title, meaning each copy contains a code redeemable for a free audio version from TatePublishing.com.

Berthelsen earned a BA from Gustavus Adophus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, and an M.A. and an M. Div. from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is the co-founder and president of Call Inc., a non-profit Christian teaching mission dedicated to helping individuals discover God’s unique call by providing seminars and resources to assist in custom designing a life, family, church, or organization around God's unique call. She is pastor of ministry development at Hope Lutheran Church in Cedar Hill, Texas.
