DPS, Ellis and Navarro counties bust huge marijuana operations

DPS officers, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office found two large marijuana farms in Ellis and Navarro counties Thursday. The two plots had approximately 15,000 plants.

The plots in Navarro County were located about half a mile from Interstate 45 in Rice, Texas.
The plants were concealed from view and irrigated by miles of pipes running from stock tanks on the property. The plots in Ellis County were just south of the Ellis County airport.

Investigators said the grows were sophisticated and well established. The investigation into the plants and their owners is continuing.
