NEW ORLEANS - A federal appeals court upheld a Waxahachie school district dress code that banned a students t-shirt supporting the John Edwards presidential campaign.
The Waxahachie High School and school district officials barred Paul "Pete" Palmer from wearing the shirt to school in September 2007.
Palmer alleged the school infringed on his free-speech right, but a lower court and the court of appeals said the dress is content-neutral and intended to avert distractions from education.
The judges ruled the students civil rights weren’t violated.
