Wintergreen Road Overpass Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Hutchins, Texas (Aug. 17, 2009) — The City of Hutchins, along with The Allen Group, Congresswomen Eddie Bernice Johnson’s Office, Union Pacific Railroad, North Central Texas Council of Governments and other State and local authorities will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 10 - 10:30 a.m.  

The event will celebrate the completion of the new Wintergreen Road Overpass, a six-lane divided bridge located on the north side of Union Pacific’s South Dallas Intermodal Terminal with access to Interstate 45 via Wintergreen Road Exit 273.

The overpass will improve the safety of the citizens at this former at-grade crossing, and allow for uninterrupted traffic flow east/west of the Union Pacific rail line, which runs through the City of Hutchins.  It will also serve as one of the main trucking entrances into the 6,000 acre Dallas Logistics Hub Inland Port.

The $8.3 million overpass was a public-private partnership between Congresswomen Eddie Bernice Johnson, North Central Texas Council of Governments, Dallas County, the City of Hutchins, The Allen Group and Union Pacific Railroad.

In addition to the new overpass, Wintergreen Road is being improved to a four-lane divided road stretching 4,000 ft west of the bridge, which transitions into a two-lane improved asphalt road to Lancaster-Hutchins Road. Off-site utilities also run along the new road, which allows the City of Hutchins and The Allen Group to offer build-ready sites to attract new businesses to the area.  The overpass and the improved road provide a direct link to the new 175 acre ADESA Auto Auction Facility.
