Broadhead Road Closure REVISED
Update: City of Waxahachie Staff received word this morning, July 27, from the contractor for the Broadhead Road project the temporary closures will be on Bison Meadow and Vivian. Not Bison Meadow and Alvis as mentioned from the below press release.
Beginning Wednesday, July 29, two intersections off of Broadhead Road will be closed as part of the Broadhead Road expansion project. The intersections Bison Meadow and Alvis Street will both be temporarily closed. The closures are anticipated to last for approximately 1-2 months, depending on weather and availability of materials.
“Broadhead Road will remain open, this closure will mainly effect the access to Buffalo Ridge and Karsen Heights subdivisions from Broadhead Road,” said Amy Hollywood, community relations manager.
“Closing these entrances is necessary because there is a difference in grade in the new road and the existing streets. This part of the project will ensure a smooth grade transition as well as proper drainage,” said Hollywood.
All motorists coming to and from the Buffalo Ridge and Karsen Heights will have to use either Vivian or Meagan Lane.
When completed, the road will be a four lane concrete roadway complete with a median and turning lanes. The expansion will begin at the 287 bypass and extend east to April Lane. The project is approximately 75 percent complete, with a targeted completion date of September 2009.
