LANACASTER – Last Thursday Lieutenant Carl Marshall and his family were introduced to their newly built home courtesy of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
The 4,000 square foot one-story home is completely wheelchair-friendly allowing Lieutenant Marshall to access all rooms and areas of the house, something he was not able to do previously.
Supporters showed up in droves to welcome the family home. Members of the Dallas Police Department, Irving Police Department, Dallas SWAT and Dallas County Sheriffs, along with the Lancaster, Red Oak and Dallas Fire Departments. Police officers from various Ellis County departments stood many hours under the blazing Texas sun in their uniforms to show their support for one of their own.
Country music superstar Trace Adkins lent his services to move different items into the house as well as shake hands with the family upon their arrival home.
The family was presented with a check for $50,000 to help pay the remaining mortgage on the previous house. The reveal was originally set for 12-2 p.m., but did not take place until about 5:30 p.m.
The final reveal would not have been possible without the many companies who gave of their time and services to make this dream a reality.
