Beginning Monday, July 6, Broadhead Road will be temporarily down to one lane, with alternating signal lights from April Lane to Memory Lane. The construction is due to last approximately seven to 10 days.
“Broadhead Road will remain open, but be scaled down to alternating one way traffic between April Lane and Memory Lane,” said Amy Hollywood, community relations manager. “Access to the entrances to both of these streets will not be affected by the construction,” said Hollywood.
All motorists traveling this section of Broadhead Road will have to stop to allow for traffic coming from the opposite direction to flow through. The signal lights will alternate at approximately three minute intervals.
When completed, the road will be a four lane concrete roadway complete with a median and turning lanes. The expansion will begin at the 287 bypass and extend east to just before Willow Lane. The project is approximately 60 percent complete, with a targeted completion date of October 2009.
Temporary closures will also effect the construction on the Parks School House Road project. Wednesday July 8, the intersection at Parks School House Road will be closed at Owen Way, and will remain closed until Thursday afternoon, July 9. After the Owen Way intersection is re-opened on Thursday, the intersection at Carter Court and Parks School House Road will be closed. That intersection is scheduled to be re-opened late Friday afternoon, July 10.
“Parks School House Road will remain open, this closure will temporarily effect the intersections of Owen Way and Carter Court on Parks School House Road,” said Hollywood. “Closing these entrances is necessary because there is a difference in grade in the new road and the existing streets. This part of the project will ensure a smooth grade transition from the new road to the existing ones,” said Hollywood.
