After four years on the job, Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hopping resigned from his position with the City of Red Oak on Tuesday, May 19.

Hopping worked closely with the Red Oak Parks and Recreation Board, one of the most active boards in the City.

This board is highly involved with organizing special events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Founders Day and the Red Oak, White and Blue festival.  Hopping also oversaw the development of trails located at the Old Town Park.

“We thank Michael for all his efforts to support our Parks over the years”, said City Manager Tim Kelty.

“The City is facing some major challenges in the upcoming years to try to advance recreational opportunities for our residents,” Kelty added.

In the recent past, residents have ranked recreational activities high on their list of priorities to improve and support a strong quality of life in Red Oak.
