Suspects charged in fatal shooting

FERRIS – Ellis County Sheriff’s Office arrested Saul Carrion Reyes, 27, on April 16 in conjunction with the murder of a local Ferris man.
Michael Owensby, a member of the South Dallas Scorpions Motorcycle Club, was fatally shot while driving his old model Harley-Davidson down Highway 780 on April 10.
Reyes, a Hispanic male from Ferris, was booked in the Wayne McCollum Detention Center and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Curtis Polk Jr.charged with murder.
Bond was set at $500,000.
Manuel Reyes,26, was also taken into custody upon the discovery of a small-caliber handgun during an execution of a search warrant.
He was charged with ‘Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.’ His bond was set at $20,000 by Polk.
It’s unclear at this time if the weapon was involved in the murder of Owensby.
The caseis still under investigation.
