On Thursday, April 16, a candlelight vigil was held in remembrance of two Ferris residents who were murdered while they slept. Janine Johnson and Steven Taylor were remembered with prayer by Chaplain Doug Childers of the Ferris Police Department. Mayor Jim Parks spoke words of encouragement and comfort to nearly 50 in attendance. Police Chief Frank Mooney said the tragedy was the saddest moment in his 27 years of law enforcement. Investigator Sam Love gave an update on the investigation. No motive for the murders has been determined and no suspects have been arrested. Schepps Dairy has posted a $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and grand jury indictment of the suspects who committed the crime. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ferris Police Department at 972-544-2225.
