Council approves mayor $300 weekly salary

ITALY – A 4-1 vote Monday evening with the city council passed an ordinance providing Mayor Frank Jackson a salary.

John Droll was the lone opposing vote.

Italy, the highest–taxed city in Ellis County, now has the highest paid mayor in the county.

Effective May 9, the city will provide Jackson $600 every two weeks.

Teri Murdock, city secretary/administrator was approved an annual salary of $48,000.

In other agenda items, the May 9 city election was canceled.

The mayor and all three council members were unopposed.
