MIDLOTHIAN - Ellis County deputies were called to a shooting in Midlothian
off of Miller Road around around 11:11 p.m. March 21.
After receiving several threatening phone calls from an anonymous caller, a group of unknown persons went to the complainant’s home and opened fire.
He then retaliated with a rifle according to the sheriff’s department.
There was one victim, who received medical attention nearby and was later flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
His names has not been released.
"Investigators are continuing the investigation to determine what all the facts are.
"At this time we don’t know the whole story but are working to piece it all together.
"It does appear it could be a case of self defense and if the facts support that when the case is prepared, it will be referred to the District Attorney for Grand Jury referral," said Sherriff Johnny Brown.
