HUTCHINS – The City of Hutchins and the Hutchins Fire Department celebrated the opening of the city’s newest fire station last Friday morning with local city officials and prominent figures from surrounding areas.

Among the guests celebrating was former Carter High School student and NBA player Michael Williams, current CEO and president of 3i Construction.

The new $2.1 million 1,700 square foot facility, Fire House No.2 is located on 1525 East Wintergreen Road will house Engine 2, Medic 702 and Booster 2 all while being able to accommodate sleeping arrangements for nine.

The building, constructed by 3i Construction in Dallas, was built without any debt to the city, thanks to the donation of 1.7 acres of land to the City of Hutchins from the Allen Group, developers of the Dallas Logistics Hub, a 6,000-acre multi-modal logistics park in southern Dallas County, a cash grant by the Hutchins economic development board and existing funds reserved by the city.

"This station is critical in keeping up with the growth of [our] city and because the station was built with no debt, fighters can concentrate on saving lives,"said Mayor Artis Johnson.
