WAXAHACHIE- Tax exempt financing by the Milford Higher Education Facilities Corporation for the benefit of Southwestern Assemblies of God University was passed 4-1 on at Monday’s city council meeting with Buck Jordan abstaining.
"This is a law mechanism that allows for tax exempt bonds for higher education," said Jay Trewern, head of accounting at SAGU.
A joint election between the city and the Waxahachie Independent School District was discussed. The agreement for the joint election passed unanimously and is set for May 9. At the election voters will elect both members of the school districts board of trustees and the citys council members.
In other business, a variance by Your Beauty Supply and More II for beer and wine retailers off-premise permits was debated.
It was denied with prejudice on a 4-1 vote with the option to come back in six months for reconsideration.
