AUSTIN -  On Jan. 23 U.S  Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison announced $1,080,830 in the U.S department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grants for Texas firefighters to increase an overall readiness and first response capabilities.
Hutchison explained that these grants would “provide our firefighters and first responders with the resources they need to save lives”.
The funding, according to DHS, will allow the fire departments and emergency service organizations to purchase response vehicles, receive training and conduct first responder health and safety programs.
“The funding will help these brave men and women better prepare for and respond to emergency situations in our communities,” Hutchison said.
