ENNIS- Former Ennis Daily News office manager Peggy Motley, turned herself into the authorities Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 8:45 a.m. after learning about a warrant out for her arrest by request of her attorney.

She was an employee of the paper until last month when a company accountant noticed shortages in their financial records.

Motley is accused of stealing more than $100,000 from the publication.

Once an Ennis Daily News co-worker made a complaint and provided evidence to the Ennis police, Detective Lt. Ron Roak obtained a warrant for Motley’s arrest Monday morning.

Motley is being charged with theft of more than $100,000.

If  found guilty, a second-degree felony charge can lead to imprisonment for up to 20 years and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

The company’s audit and investigation are ongoing.
