Superintendent clarifies teacher pay check

Last Wednesday evening (Nov. 12) the Palmer ISD Board of Trustees voted in open session to give a $200 supplemental payment to all district employees in their December pay check. 

The board had budgeted a $100 payment in this year’s budget but considered and passed an additional $100 for a total of $200 for each employee.

The board is very aware of the efforts made by all of our staff to continue to make Palmer ISD a desirable place to work. 

The additional supplemental pay is the board’s way of thanking all of the employees for their dedication to the district. 

When the board froze wages this past summer, our employees recognized the difficult financial situation we were in and there was a unified understanding and support of our efforts to be financially accountable. 

When the rollback election was successful, the board unfroze wages and our employees received the annual step raises per our 2008-09 district pay schedule. 

The additional supplemental payment is a one-time payment that is reviewed and voted on by the board each year as yearly budget constraints will allow.
