ISD hires consultant for $2,500
ITALY- It's been confirmed that Italy Independent School District has spent $2,500 on a political consultant for their upcoming 13-cent tax increase election this Saturday, Oct.11.
Monica Boyd; public relations director for the district, said they hired on Walch Educational Consulting to make sure “ all the I's were dotted and the T's were crossed. We just wanted to know we were following all the guidelines for our elections to be legal. “
Dr. John Walch, is retired with 38 years in Texas education.
“ Since House Bill 1 passed I help districts with these special elections they are allowed to hold now. Basically, I just give them a better understanding of what the states rules are.”
Palmer and Avalon ISD's are holding 13-cent tax increase elections this Saturday as well but didn't see the need to hire on additonal consulting.
“ We did everything from our flyers to mailings in house. I didn't feel the need to hire on a political consultant here” said Superintendent of Palmer, Alan Oakley.
