Clarification: District Judges/Attorney Salaries

In the Thursday, Sept. 18 issue of The Ellis County Press, a chart showing the county’s elected officials was printed with the salaries for the two district judges (Gene Knize and Al Scoggins) showing $10,672.

The county/district attor-ney’s salary was also shown as a $10,672 dollar amount. The State of Texas pays the majority of district judges/attorneys salaries.

Counties pick up the tab for offices, staff and equipment, and other stipends. According to this paper’s records, each district official makes an annual salary exceeding $100,000.
