Write-in hauls $4,000

Sheriff write-in candidate Susan Welch-Rodriguez of Midlothian hauled in $4,000 last week and she told The Ellis County Press more is coming.

As Republican Johnny Brown’s only opponent in the Nov. 4 contest, Welch said she is going to have to campaign harder.

Any variations of her first and last name must be entered into the blank, she said.

While no political party is backing her, Welch has adamantly denied being backed by Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez or Precinct 4 Constable Steve McKinney.
