Lupe Valdez weighs in on ECSO race

DALLAS - Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez, in a public response to reports she was backing write-in candidate for sheriff Susan Welch-Rodriguez, told The Ellis County Press, "I am always in favor of my officers getting the opportunity to use the experience and training they have received at the sheriff’s department and advance to a leadership role. It is great to see them become leaders in other areas of law enforcement."

Welch-Rodriguez has still been facing criticism over who is backing her in the Nov. 4 race against Johnny Brown. She has reported that it was all her idea and thought she should give back after all her years working as a Dallas County sheriff.
