PALMER – Palmer has a new day care center. The First Baptist Church recently opened its new Christian Day Care Center, just south of Palmer, on Business 45. The new child care and learning facility has 13 class rooms, covering 15,500 square feet.
Most residents will remember the original day care center that operated next to the fire station since 1993.
That facility was licensed for 162 children and averaged about 135 attendees. The new facility is licensed to care for 272 children.
The center cares for children from six weeks to 12 years of age, providing a structured curriculum including bible verses, stories and songs.
There is a nursery facility for children under twelve months of age.
Toddlers up to 24 months also have their own facility. Two, three, four and five year olds also have their own learning environments, with combined facilities for six and seven year olds.
Rounding out the last group, separated by age, are children eight years old and older.
The day care has a full-time staff of 21, including a full time cook.
The Day Care’s certified Director, Kim Pistole, also doubles as Bus Driver, driving children on weekly field trips to Ennis and Waxahachie.
