RED OAK – Ellis County sheriff’s deputies received an eye full when they discovered a secret room in Red Oak containing more than 150 marijuana plants.
According to Sheriff’s Captain Danny Williams, the authorities were tipped off by an anonymous person.
The room, hidden through a secret door behind a bookshelf and only accessible with a hidden key and a magnetic lock, was easily located beneath the detached garage of a house, owned by Dwayne Marshall Nielsen, 46.
The concealed process had an irrigation system, grow lights and chemicals to speed up the plants’ maturity.
The room was able to generate between 30 to 40 pounds of marijuana every two months.
Nielsen was charged with possession of marijuana.
