Rockett Special Utility District ribbon cutting, open house June 24
A ribbon cutting and open house will be held June 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at their new location, 126 Alton Adams Drive north of Waxahachie.
Established Jan. 29, 1965, as a non-profit corporation, Rockett Water Supply Corporation was formed to furnish a water supply for general farm use and domestic purposes to individuals residing in the rural community of Rockett, Texas and the surrounding rural areas.
Rockett derived its name from the first well located in the community of Rockett, where it all began.
Original Board Members were: T. James Scott, T.M. Harper, C.E. Spain, E.T. Goodloe, T.M. Mabry.
Rockett Water Supply Corporation became Rockett Special Utility District Nov. 21, 1989.
"Rockett Special Utility District strives in providing the best customer service and the highest quality of surface water to the community. We currently have 2.8 million feet (536 miles) of distribution piping running in our service area with 11,555,000 gallons of existing ground and elevated storage facilities, which is divided into nine service areas." according to their website.
Rockett Special Utility District currently supplies service to approximately 11,000 customers in our service area.
Current board members are:
Alton Adams, president; Don Werner, vice-presi.; Allan Beutler, sec./treas.; David Risinger, asst. sec./treas.; Matthew Craig, Ronald Moore , Carol Anders and James S. Borders.
Management staff ios comprised of Kay Phillips, genernal manager; Bart Harrison, operations manager; Sharon Britton, office manager and Robert Woodall, operations forman.
Monthly board mMeetings are held the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the new office location and is open to the public.
Any individual can address the board during customer communication, but no action can be taken unless palced on the agenda one week prior to the date of the board meeting.
