ELLIS COUNTY - Fewer families are moving to Ellis County, according to an analysis by the Dallas Morning News and statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Despite being one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation, Ellis County’s new population growth trends trickled from 4.4 percent to 4 percent compared to last year, according to the Census chart the DMN ran in their March 20 issue.

Estimates from the North Central Texas Council of Governments predict 350,000 people will call Ellis County home by 2025. Current population figures show Ellis County at about 144,000.

Neighboring Kaufman County was the only county in a five-county region of Dallas/Fort Worth that experienced increased population growth, according to the DMN.
