Responding to Laura Gorman Letter

I’m sure Laura Gorman is a nice lady, but she completely misses the point of Bill Redding’s letter.

I had to wonder if she attended any of the FORCED annexation meetings and knows what the real issues are?

To say that the folks in the RCCA (county residents) want to "receive all the benefits without paying any of the price" {via taxation} is plain and simply "Not the Truth."

The people of Ellis County are some of the best people in the world and are always willing to carry their share of the load.

Most of us do not use or do not want city services. Driving on city thoroughfares (any city) is a right afforded to all of us.

For example, Dallas doesn’t ask us to pay their city taxes when we drive to jobs, hospitals, and shopping malls.

The merchants and business owners of most cities welcome "out of town money."

The cities collect a sales tax on that spending. Do you think Midlothian businesses would want us to stay off your streets and take the state highway to other cities to spend our money?

I don’t think so! I know we pay our fair share of taxes for the services we receive. Forced annexation will only dilute the services that the city residents pay for now.

Why has the issue of" not paying our way" just recently been" dreamed up"? Is the city spending too much- too fast? Have they "Maxed Out" their credit cards?

Does the city, now, want county residents to help pay for their extravagance?

Forced annexation is Un-American! Right up there with Eminent Domain! Let’s protect our Freedoms!
