ELLIS COUNTY - The Ellis County Press launched an Internet radio station Tuesday in an effort to capitalize on the ever-growing market of news consumers.
Called The Freedom of the Press, weekly interviews with local political officials and activists will be conducted in an hour time frame.
'The Internet has not made newspapers obsolete, but this will help us solidify our readership base in both the web market and the print market,' said Publisher Charles Hatfield, who has a background in radio and who will fill in as host.
'When it comes to local political news or Ellis County in general, we have no competition. The radio project will increase our versatile news product.'
The first show will launch Sunday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m.
Guest for that show will be Rodney Pat Ramsey, a candidate for district attorney.
