ROISD appoints director of human resources

RED OAK - Sheila Straughan has been selected as the Director of Human Resources for the Red Oak Independent School District.
She has more than 17 years experience in the education field. Straughan will be working with the Eastridge staff during the transition period and is expected to fully assume her new duties in Human Resources once a new principal has been selected for Eastridge.
Straughan graduated from Friona High School in Friona, Texas attended West Texas A & M University where she received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education Administration.
She was a teacher for the Herford ISD for 12 years where she taught third through sith grades.
In 2002, she moved to Red Oak to serve as the assistant principal at the Intermediate campus. She was selected to be the principal at Eastridge Elementary in January 2006.
Straughan said, 'I am very excited to continue to serve this district in my new position. My goal is to have a positive impact in this district by ensuring that we continue to place highly qualified teachers in our classrooms so that we can reach a standard of educational excellence for our students.
'I love being a part of the Red Oak ISD team and believe in this district.
'I am grateful for the education that my three boys are receiving in Red Oak and believe our future in Red Oak is full of potential.
'I am excited about the direction we are heading and look forward to working with the staff of Red Oak ISD as we reach for excellence in our school system.'
She has lived in Ovilla for five years with her sons, Caleb, 16, who is a Junior at ROHS, Hunter, 10, who is a fifth grader at RO Intermediate and Brady, 8, who is a third grader at Shields.
'When I am not at school or attending one of my boys activities, I love to work in my gardens and search for hidden treasures in the rough at antique stores,'said Straughan.
She is a member of the Ovilla Church of Christ, the ATPE and TEPSA.
