RED OAK - At the Red Oak varsity football game in Ennis on Nov. 2 two friends, Vincent Deblado and Ian Nance, both students and Red Oak Elementary were running, playing and eating pizza all at the same time, not a good combination, however, anyone who has raised boys knows this is quite normal.

All of a sudden Nance could not breath, a piece of pizza was blocking his airway. Before any of the adults in the area had time to realize what was happening and get to Nance, his friend Deblado got behind him, performed the Heim-lich Maneuver and the pizza causing the blockage popped right out.

Nance was a little shaken after the incident but was fine after resting for a few minutes and getting a drink.

He said he was glad his friend was there to help him.
