Staff Report
HUTCHINS - Hutchins police are looking for Larry S. Norcross of Italy, as a suspect in a police chase Monday morning, Oct. 8.

The pursuit ended with a pickup in a pond and the driver at large.

At 11:18 a.m., a Hutchins police officer tried to stop a 1999 Chevrolet pickup in the parking lot of the Lucky 777 grocery store along Dowdy Ferry Road.

As the officer approached the pickup, the driver sped off through the parking lot.

At the end of a nearby road, the truck broke through a metal gate and drove through a field into a pond, police said.

When no one seemed to emerge, Hutchins emergency workers were called, but the pickup was empty.

Authorities soon received a tip from a nearby insurance office that a man had jumped the fence there and stolen a white 2000 Honda Accord two-door coupe.

The suspect is wanted by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department on an unrelated charge, authorities said.
