Communities around the county enjoyed the festivities

ELLIS COUNTY - There were several awards handed out at the Milford night out.
These were Citizen of the Year, presented to Carlos Phoenix, Biggest Grouch and Lifesaving award and City Proclamations around the communities of Ellis County.
David Culpepper, of Italy, displayed heroic selflessness which won him a most deserved award.
He woke up April 7, smelling smoke.
He went outside and saw his neighbor's house on fire. He didn't see her so he kicked in the door and found her in the bedroom trying to find her way out.
The house was completely on fire. They both got out safe but she was transported to Baylor Hospital by ground ambulance for smoke inhalation.
David was transported by careflight to Parkland Hospital for smoke inhalation.
Tuesday focused on kids and local heroes as the community gathered for an evening of fun and heart-felt recognition.
Italy was another place where discussions ranged from bus safety, teen driving and cell phones.
Waxahachie seen many activities and people came out in droves to participate, while next door in Red Oak the community gathered to meet and great all the outstanding personnel who patrol their streets, put out the fires and take care of them when they are hurt or sick.
Glenn Heights and Ovilla had their celebrations also and Midlothian was not to be left out and almost every community in Ellis County celebrated.
