People around the county braved the weather to enjoy the parade
Staff Reports
WAXAHACHIE - Spectators and participants accepted the threat of inclement weather and briefly endured passing rain showers in order to celebrate the annual Crape Myrtle parade in downtown Waxahachie.

The celebration coincides with the 4th of July holiday and enjoys participation from many surrounding communities.

Represented in this year's parade were Emergency Service vehicles from Ovilla, Red Oak, Bardwell and Palmer, among others.

The 'Spirit of Waxahachie' Marching Band, area Boy Scouts, auto and motorcycle clubs and equestrian riders were among some of the groups taking part in the parade.

Despite scattered rain showers, everyone seemed to enjoy the opportunity to get out and celebrate the 4th of July Holiday.

Even celebrated Crape Myrtle Queen, Bernyce Crownover, didn't seem to mind having to use an umbrella to stay dry in the procession.
