Desoto, Lancaster hold 2nd annual Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration

LANCASTER - The cities of Desoto and Lancaster are again combining resources to host a spectacular fireworks show on July 4.
Each city budgeted $15,000 for separate fireworks programs and combined funds to host the largest fireworks show south of the Trinity River.
The July 4, 2007 Old Fashioned 4th Fireworks show will take place in Desoto at the Youth Soccer Complex at Grimes Park, 501 E. Wintergreen Road.
Gates will open at 6:30 p.m.
A free concert featuring the smooth jazz sounds of Freddie Jones will begin at 7:30 p.m.
He has taken his trumpet and his group on the road throughout the Southwest, performing at numerous festivals everywhere.
The concert and the fireworks to music show will also be simulcast on Desoto Information Radio 890 AM.
The fireworks to music spectacular will begin at 9:30 p.m. or as soon as it's good and dark.
Admission is free and parking is $1 per car benefiting the Desoto Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association.
