New call center in Ennis opens

ENNIS - Alliance Data, one of the nation's leading providers of marketing, loyalty and transaction services, held their grand opening for their new call center facility in Ennis on Thursday, June 7.

President of Utility Services, Jeff Shorter, described how the company worked and what it did for its customers.

'We are a $2 billion company that provides transaction and loyalty services on behalf of our customers…'

Shorter went on to explain their involvement in the limited-credit business, which would apply to such stores as Bath and Body Works, who have their own credit card for store purchases.

'We know what you buy, how you buy it and what you might buy next.

'We help our clients get closer to their customers… They become more loyal.'

Alliance Data services more than 21 million customers worldwide and manages more than 120 million consumer relationships for several large companies.

Shorter said they picked Ennis as the location for their new call center for many reasons.

'We looked at all sorts of demographic data.

'I saw charts, I saw pie charts, I saw line charts, I had all sorts of colors of the rainbow looking at all sorts of data,' Shorter said with a smile.

'We looked at the communities, looked at all of the demographics, looked at the people, looked at all those things and we chose Ennis.

'And in return, Ennis turned around and chose us, which made a very powerful partnership for us.'

The mayor of Ennis, as well as the city manager and fire chief, were on hand at the grand opening to welcome the company to the area.

'They've been instrumental in pushing this through,' said Shorter.

External Communications Director Shelley Whiddon spoke of Alliance Data's involvement in the community, saying the company was a 'values-based corporation' and talked about their Neighbor of Choice program.

Alliance Data will be holding an open house and recruiting day on Thursday, June 14 at the Ennis facility.
