ELLIS COUNTY - The Memorial Day event of the year, Country Thunder, turned out to be a bust for most people because of the rain.

Friday and Sunday shows were cancelled and Country Thunder USA had to pass along their regrets on their website.

In their statement, Country Thunder USA stated, 'We regret to announce that we must cancel today's show (Sunday, May 27) due to the heavy rains.

'This act of God has made the grounds and surrounding roadways unsafe for our customers.'

They also announced people with tickets for Sunday's show will be contacted by CTUSA within 10 days to let them know what CTUSA will be able to do for them.

Many people plan their Memorial Day weekend around this event and were disappointed by the weather said some local residents.

Sunday would have been the big show of the week with several major bands playing and closing the night with George Strait but again the rain put a damper on the festivities.

CTUSA said they appreciated the welcome we gave them this year and look forward to some sunshine and bringing the big event back to Texas again - continued from page 1
next year.

The tickets for Friday's show were all honored for Saturday's show but this did not sit well with some ticket holders. One ticket holder stated, 'I came to see the bands on Friday's schedule.'

'It's been a wet bump in the road, but yes, we will be back,' stated CTUSA.

'We'll see you next Memorial Day weekend 2008.'
